Hyderabad: The Sri Venkateshwara Colony Welfare Association (SVCWA) has been selected by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for the Swachh Survekshan 2021.
The association members hosted a meeting regarding the same on Friday which was also attended by GHMC officials, employees, SVCWA secretary Dr A Srikanth, other office bearers, and GHMC’s NGO partner ITC – WOW. The meeting was to raise awareness about the separation of dry and wet waste by residents and the prohibition of open defecation.
The ITC – WOW NGO team spoke about the importance of a group initiative by GHMC authorities, employees and residents for making more people aware about the composting procedure of the organic biodegradable household waste everyday. The participants were shown the SVCWA Community Hall V Rooftop vegetable farming which was started for the benefit of members.
SVCWA Secretary Dr A Srikanth said that the members of the colony would contribute towards this initiative and thanked the GHMC for the opportunity. He also assured that community level composting would be started in the colony with the help of ITC WOW. An awareness walk highlighting the importance of Swachh Sarvekshan 2021 was also organised in the colony.
