Hyderabad Restaurant Raids: In the latest inspections by the state’s food safety task force, several establishments around Sagar X Road faced scrutiny.
Hyderabad Restaurant Raids: On October 9 and 10, 2024, Telangana’s Food Safety Department conducted inspections in and around Sagar X Road, Hyderabad. At Urban Maya Bazar – Family Bar & Kitchen, officials found several violations. House flies were present in the kitchen, and the back doors were not properly sealed to prevent pest entry. Dustbins lacked lids, and food stored in the refrigerator was not labeled correctly. Synthetic food colors, suspected to be used in non-vegetarian dishes, were discovered and discarded. The restaurant had also failed to display a valid FSSAI license, and medical fitness certificates for food handlers, as well as water analysis reports, were missing.

The task force also inspected The Tree Stories, a café in the same neighborhood. It was found to be operating with an expired FSSAI license. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers and pest control records were missing. Officials discovered expired baked beans and besan, which were immediately discarded. Rat droppings were found in the storeroom, raising concerns about a potential rodent infestation. Additionally, food in the refrigerator was neither covered nor labeled properly, and the café lacked insect-proof screens on windows, with doors improperly sealed to prevent pest entry.

On October 10, 2024, officials visited The Avenue Bar & Kitchen on Sagar X Road. While fewer violations were noted, some issues were still identified. The back door of the kitchen was not properly sealed to prevent pests from entering, and certain food items stored in the refrigerator lacked proper labeling. Additionally, the water analysis reports for the RO water used in food preparation were unavailable.
